Giving to the community

More than 200 members of the Knights of Columbus and guests from throughout the Diocese of Buffalo gathered at Fr. John Schaus Council in Lancaster, for the Western New York Chapter's Eighth Annual Bishop's Burse. Among the many contributors to the Burse were State Advocate Charles Esposito of Williamsville (left) as he presented the Most Reverend Edward U. Kmiec, Bishop of Buffalo, with a check in the amount of $10,000 from the New York State Council Knights of Columbus, while State Treasurer Arthur Harris of Rochester looks on. The New York State Council presents checks to each of the Ordinaries of Dioceses throughout the state. Monies are raised through the Knight's annual Charitable and Benevolent Program statewide. This year, the New York State Special Olympics was also a receipt of a donation in the amount of $30,000 as a result of this program. Submitted photo.
