Spencerport Sports Booster Club announces changes

The Spencerport Sports Booster Club (SSBC) has made three significant changes for the 2006-07 school year:

The first change is a major revision to the SSBC constitution. Last updated in 1991, the constitution now calls for a five (5) person executive board replacing the current eleven (11) member executive board. SSBC members will elect executive board members including a president, vice president, secretary, treasurer and a new position of publicity/membership chair. These positions are for two-year terms.

The second change is the addition of parent representative liaisons to serve as SSBC board members. Interested parents should contact the varsity coach of each sport, who will recommend parent representatives. Each representative will have full voting privileges. The purpose of creating these positions is to increase parent participation in the SSBC and to increase the communication between the SSBC, the varsity coach and parents in each sport.

The third change to the constitution allows for the formation of individual sport parent clubs. These parent clubs will require approval from the SSBC and operate under the "umbrella" of the SSBC.

According to a press release, it is the intent of the SSBC that these constitutional changes will allow the SSBC to continue to strongly support and promote the Spencerport Rangers athletic program, each sport and all student-athletes.

A copy of the revised SSBC constitution is available for viewing on the Athletics pages of Spencerport School District website, www.SpencerportSchools.org.
