Public hearing scheduled on agricultural district additions

The New York State Agricultural and Markets Law provides for property owners to request agricultural land to be added to an established agricultural district on an annual basis. Between April 28 and May 30 five landowners requested that seven parcels in Hamlin, Ogden, Parma and Rush be added to three Monroe County Agricultural Districts. The Monroe County Agricultural and Farmland Protection Board confirmed that these parcels are at least 51 percent viable agricultural land and are eligible for addition.

The parcels under consideration are:

•The existing Midwestern Agricultural District #1 occupies portions of the Towns of Sweden, Ogden and Riga. The following parcel is proposed to be added to the District: 54 Dewey Street, Town of Ogden, consisting of approximately 7.0 acres, tax account number 130.02-1-39, owned by Richard and Susan Sidoti.

•The existing Southeastern Agricultural District #4 occupies portions of the Towns of Henrietta, Mendon, Perinton, Pittsford and Rush.

•The existing Northwestern Agricultural District #5 occupies portions of the Towns of Clarkson, Greece, Hamlin, Ogden, Parma and Sweden. The following five parcels are proposed to be added to the District: Redman Road south of Roosevelt Highway, Town of Hamlin, consisting of approximately 91.4 acres, tax account number 020.03-2-4.2, owned by Wood Wise Land Co.; 183 Parma Center Road, Town of Parma, consisting of approximately 102.5 acres, tax account number 043.04-1-7, owned by Arthur S. & Arthur P.
