Annual Harvest Series kicks off October 5

The Hands-On Horticulture Harvest Series presented by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Genesee County kicks off on Thursday, October 5 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Genesee County Park Interpretive Center. Three different workshops, led by Extension Master Gardeners, educators and other community experts, will be offered in the series.

This year's schedule includes:

•Seed Saving - 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 5 at the Genesee County Park Interpretive Center, 11095 Bethany Center Road, East Bethany. Genesee County Soil and Water Conservation District representatives will teach participants tips and techniques for successful seed saving. $10 per person.

•Herbal Thanksgiving - 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 16 at Cornell Cooperative Extension, 430 East Main Street, Batavia. Traditional Thanksgiving dishes will be served using herbs for the holiday season. Participants will receive a recipe book containing all the dishes prepared at the workshop. Workshop participation is limited and pre-registration is required by November 6. $20 per person.

•Fresh Holiday Greens Workshop - 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 7 at the Kennedy building located on the Genesee County Fairgrounds on Route 5 in Batavia. Extension Educators and Master Gardeners will show participants how to make their choice of a holiday greens centerpiece, a holiday greens wreath or a living Christmas tree. $20 per person.
