Hilton High School honors Vietnam veterans

Principal Brian Bartalo, center, accepts a plaque honoring three former Hilton High School students who were killed and missing in action in Vietnam. The plaque recognized the ultimate sacrifice paid by David E. Lemcke who was listed as Missing-in-Action May 21, 1968; Gerald A. Wilson who was Killed-in-Action August 12, 1968; and John L. Waugh who was Killed-in-Action December 7, 1968. From left are: Dave Danzig, owner of the Dakota Grill in Hilton which annually sponsors a Bike Run for Veterans raising thousands of dollars to assist veterans; Ken Moore, president, Chapter 20 Vietnam Veterans of America; Bartalo; Jack Wilson. Gerald's brother and Rick Lemcke, supervisor of the Town of Parma and cousin of David. The honored served in the US Army Infantry. Both Moore and Danzig are veterans and traveled to Vietnam last year to assist in the search for the remains of those missing in action.
