Memorial soccer tournament scheduled

Boys and girls varsity and JV soccer teams from Aquinas, Brockport, Churchville-Chili, Olympia, Spencerport and Hilton will participate in the two-day Kevin Steinmetz Memorial Soccer Tournament.

This year is the 20th anniversary of the tournament, sponsored by the Hilton Sports Booster Club, held in memory of former Hilton soccer player, Kevin Steinmetz, who passed away when he was 15 years old of acute leukemia. He played with the Parma Recreation soccer club in the summer and was on the JV soccer team through the school, he was also the co-captain on the Hilton Heat travel soccer team.

The girls championship game will begin at 5 p.m.; the boys' championship game will follow at 7 p.m. The consolidation and championship games for both the Boys and Girls Varsity Tournament will be played at Hilton High School on LeBeau Field.

Any child wearing their soccer uniform will get free admission into the championship games. Hilton's Josie Waverly will sing the National Anthem. For a schedule of contests go to www.hilton.k12.ny.us
