Ogden Police investigate crime spree on Route 31

On Sunday, August 27, the Ogden Police Department received several calls involving mischief and theft. The first call came at 6:42 a.m., the last at 1:50 p.m. All of the crimes, which took place on Spencerport Road (Route 31) in Ogden, are presumed to have happened during the early morning hours between Saturday night and Sunday morning. The accounts include three petty larcenies, one criminal mischief, two grand larcenies, three cases of trespassing and one burglary.

In sum: two vehicles, a van and a car, were stolen then recovered Monday in the City of Rochester with minor damage to both, most likely caused during the actual theft; cash, change and CDs were stolen from three other vehicles; one ignition was damaged in a possible attempt at theft of the vehicles; three other vehicles were ransacked, though nothing was stolen; a bicycle was stolen from outside one of the properties; and change and wine were stolen from inside a garage attached to one of the homes.

"We've got no witnesses", says Ogden Police Chief Doug Nordquist, "but we were able to get some workable prints from the stolen vehicles, and we're working on that right now."

One of the homes affected by this single-night crime spree also suffered physical damage on Friday morning, when an accident on the street sent a vehicle crashing directly into the house.
