Swanson, Palumbo pace Cadets

Senior setter Jake Swanson handed out 44 assists and Cal Palumbo knocked down 18 kills to lead Hilton to a 25-19, 25-21, 19-25, 25-13 victory over Webster-Thomas in boy's volleyball.

Palumbo, Mike Fowler, Jason Rosenberg and Jake Buss all registered kills in the first game win which the Cadets led by as many as seven points. Hilton also had the offense in sync at the end of the second game registering kills on four of the final five points including the last three by Palumbo.

The Cadets let their defense lapse in the third game before rebounding in the fourth and final game. With the game tied at 6-6, the Cadets rallied to finish on a 19-7 run to take the match. Matt Seils had three of his eight kills in the fourth game.

Palumbo had three blocks to lead the Cadets on defense. Fowler finished with 12 kills and Buss had seven along with five serving aces. Buss, Palumbo and Seils are in their fourth year competing for the varsity on the squad that featured six seniors on the floor at most points of the match.

Hilton has never won a division title in boy's volleyball losing to Spencerport on the last day of the season one year ago to cost them the title - the closest the team has ever come. They improved to 2-1, 1-0 with the win.
