New postmaster comes to Spencerport office

Donna Chichester of North Chili has been selected to be the 29th postmaster of Spencerport.

Chichester started her career in Buffalo as a letter sorting machine (LSM) clerk 25 years ago. She has held several managerial positions including manager of customer services at a few Rochester branches/stations and officer-in-charge at Rochester area post offices, including the Spencerport Post Office. She has served on the Dispute Resolution Team and has coordinated training for entry-level supervisors. Previous to this selection she was the postmaster of Brockport.

"In today's business environment, a postmaster has many responsibilities. He or she needs to be able to work with our customers, maintain our retail and delivery operations, and manage our complex network of employee programs," said Mary Spring, acting manager of Post Office Operations in Western New York. "In Spencerport, Donna will manage 26 employees and has delivery responsibility for approximately 7,000 business, residential and post office box addresses. Donna's experience makes her an excellent choice for this position. She will be a great asset to the Spencerport community."

"I have worked at the Spencerport Post Office as the Officer-in-Charge in 1997 and 2003," Chichester said. "I am excited to be back again to serve the residents and businesses of this community."

The Spencerport Post Office was first established in 1820 as the Ogden Post Office under the jurisdiction of Genesee County. In 1821 it became part of Monroe County and in 1938 the office name was changed to Spencerport.
