Rotary District 7120 Governor meets with Area 9 clubs

Rotary District Governor Jim Holden met with about 90 Area 9 club members at a Lodge-on-the Green dinner meeting to discuss local, district, and international Rotary goals for the 102nd year of Rotary. Club leaders also briefly shared some of the many projects accomplished, under way, or planned for this year.

A sampling of club efforts include: Brockport's interest in creating a Rotaract group at SUNY Brockport and its long time support of Boy Scout Troop #111; Gates-Chili's involvement with the Wheelchair Foundation where 36 chairs have been funded with a goal of 50 or more to come; Greece's fundraising efforts with a golf tournament and ziti dinner to help support St. Joseph's Villa and other projects; Hilton's famous "Fly-In" Breakfast event to support Mercy Flight, the Hilton Fire Department, and Camp Haccamo; and Spencerport's interest in the community skateboard park, which now is helping in its upkeep and, like Brockport Rotary, has an emerging interest in Soap Box Derby support.

Except for Greece, these are small clubs of 15-21 persons who perform services to help their respective communities.
