Read-a-thon benefits Trolley Depot restoration

Sixty students from Spencerport's Canal View school's Yellow Comets Family Group walked to the Spencerport Trolley Depot on September 27 to hold a Read-a-thon to benefit the restoration of the depot. They were greeted by Carol Coburn, Ogden/Spencerport Historian and Bernie Cubitt and given a quick tour of the depot as it looks now. Mrs. Freeman presented Carol Coburn with the money raised by the students pledging to read. The funds were in a sock with a message that read: We "socked" away a little money. We know you can use it at the Trolley Depot. Your friends @ Canal View, The Yellow Comet Family. The students then read their books to each other, signed the poster depicting their family group and returned to school. The Trolley Depot Committee thanks all the students, teachers and parents who were involved with the project which raised $220. Many of the students will be returning to the depot in the spring of 2007 when the depot should be open to the public.
