Rangers sweep singles

Spencerport took all four singles matches in straight sets on their way to defeating Gates Chili 6-1 in girls tennis.

Sophomore Molly Hannigan won her first singles match 6-3, 6-1 and eighth grader Julia Evan won at second singles 6-0, 6-4. Juniors Christina Antonelli and Kaitlyn Reese both won at third and fourth singles respectively, 6-2, 6-2.

In doubles, the tightest match came at first doubles as Jen Garwol and Sam Stell lost their first set 4-6 before rebounding for a 6-3 decision in the second. In the deciding third set, the duo was down 4-1 before rebounding to break serve three times to take a 6-4 decision and the match.

Vickie Kordowski and Lana Gerasko also won at third doubles 6-1, 6-1 as the Rangers improved to 5-4 overall, but 3-1 league and tied for first place with Webster-Thomas.
