Clarkson undergoes annual assessment update

The Town of Clarkson Assessor Pamela Dolliver, will undertake the Annual Assessment Update Program for 2007 to continue to maintain fair and equitable property assessments at 100 percent of full market value for the 2007 assessment roll year.

The town has been maintaining values at 100 percent since 2004 when it underwent its town-wide reassessment program. The town participates in an annual update program that also qualifies the town for state maintenance aid. The primary role of the assessor, under the tax law, is to maintain fair and equitable property assessments that are at a uniform level of assessment.

Authorized staff will be conducting a mass appraisal valuation of properties in the town from the public right-of-way beginning in mid-October. Dolliver reminds property owners that staff will not be requesting to enter the inside of the property.

The Real Property Tax Law §511 mandates that the assessor mails to each owner an assessment disclosure notice every three years. All residents of the Town of Clarkson will receive a Notice of Assessment in March 2007, regardless of a change in assessment.
