Two local college athletes to be inducted into JPMorgan Chase Basketball Tournament Hall of Fame

The JPMorgan Chase Scholarship Basketball Tournament's tenth class of inductees into the JPMorgan Chase Scholarship Basketball Tournament Hall of Fame was recently announced.

The event is the oldest running NCAA Division III tournament in the nation and will run from January 9 through 13, 2007.

The Hall of Fame's Class of 2007 consists of power forward Joe Rebisz of Roberts Wesleyan College, who was selected First Team All-Tourney three straight years (1999-00 through 2001-02), and center Jen Feneli Sullivan of SUNY Brockport, who, as a four-year starter (1996-97 through 1999-00), set tournament career records for most points, rebounds, and blocked shots.
Rebisz is his college's second hall of fame selection (Jeanette Glover was inducted in 2005), while Feneli Sullivan is Brockport's third Hall of Famer, joining previous inductees Kristin Roseti (2003) and Guy Vickers (2005). Rebisz, a LeRoy resident, and Feneli Sullivan, who lives in Irondequoit, will be inducted Sunday, January 7 at the Tournament's Seedings and Pairings Dinner at 6:30 p.m. at the RIT Inn & Conference Center.

The participating area schools are Keuka College, Nazareth College, Roberts Wesleyan College, University of Rochester (defending women's champ), RIT, St. John Fisher (last years men's champ), SUNY Brockport, and SUNY Geneseo. The women's (5:30 p.m.) and men's (8:00 p.m.) championship games will be held on Saturday, January 13 at Roberts Wesleyan College in North Chili.

Rebisz, a 6-6 power forward, amassed one of the finest individual statistical performances in the tournament's 40-year history. He is one of just ten male players to be voted First All-Tournament three times (1999-00 through 2001-02), leading the three-game event in rebounding each year, to tie the tourney mark of three consecutive rebound titles, while capturing two scoring crowns. His Raiders posted a 2-1 mark in each of his four seasons of JPMorgan Chase play. In 1998-99 as a freshman reserve, he averaged 9.0 points and 4.3 rebounds per game as Roberts Wesleyan finished in fifth place.

Rebisz, who graduated in 2002 as a dean's list elementary education major, finished his four-year, 138-game Roberts Wesleyan career with 11 Raider records, including most career points (2,464) and rebounds (1,325). He earned NAIA All-American honors in 2000-01 (third team) and 2001-02 (second team).

Feneli Sullivan, a 6-0 center who started every contest of her 106-game SUNY Brockport career, is considered one of the steadiest low-post standouts in the women's Tournament's 13-year history.

In 12 (4-8) Tournament contest, Feneli Sullivan averaged 16.8 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 3.2 blocks per game, hitting 43.7 percent (73-167) from the field and 60.5 percent (52-86) at the foul line. A Second Team All-Tournament selection in 1998-99 and 1999-00, she established seven tourney records: most career points (201), offensive rebounds (47), total rebounds (115), and blocks (38); most blocks in one tourney (13); most offensive rebounds in one game (10); most Tournaments as leader in blocks (3). She collected her tournament one-game best for points (23) three times ... once as a sophomore, junior, and senior.

Feneli Sullivan, who graduated in 2000 as a dean's list physical education major, finished her four-year career with 24 Brockport records, including most career points (1,938), rebounds (977), and blocks (340). She earned honorable mention WBCA Division III All-American honors in 1998-99 and 1999-00. The native of Fairport earned her master's in liberal studies from SUNY Brockport in August 2006.
