Past Chief Christian A. McCullough is pictured wearing one of the new sets of protective clothing with Assemblyman Bill Reilich, Fire Chief Laurence C. Vaughan and Assistant Chief Scott R. Smith. The chiefs are appreciate of Reilich's efforts. Vaughan said, "It seems like Christmas in October for the Brockport Fire Department." The department also received a $320,000 grant for new Rescue Breathing Air-packs from the FEMA Assistance to Firefighters program.

Firefighters receive new rescue saws

Assemblyman Bill Reilich presented Brockport Firefighters two partner K-12 Fire Rescue Saws and two sets of firefighter protective clothing as part of his member initiative funds sponsorship. The equipment expense totaled more than $6,750.

The saws will replace older, heavier saws that have been in use for many years and aren't capable of the service they once offered. The firefighter clothing will aid in maintaining appropriate equipment for personnel and will serve to reduce the costs associated with replacing gear as it reaches its normal life expectancy, either through normal use or damage during a fire or rescue operation.
