Technology to focus on improving town service

The Town of Parma has begun a technology upgrade thanks in part to Assemblyman Steve Hawley, who secured a $5,000 grant from the New York State Assembly.

These funds will focus on bringing the wireless internet to the Parma Public Library, updating the Parma Senior Citizen computer lab, where free classes are offered weekly throughout the year, installing a new software program for Hilton-Parma Recreation with capabilities of future on-line registration, as well as credit card opportunities and updating a new server on the main computer system at Parma Town Hall.

According to Town Board Councilman Jim Smith, "The technology focus for each of our town departments has been a major consideration when preparing the 2007 town fiscal budget and I am very pleased that with Assemblyman Hawley's efforts, we are able to jump start this process."

Assemblyman Hawley visited the Town of Parma on October 20 to meet with the individuals who will be involved with improving these town services.
