Golden Eagles win first women's soccer title

Lyndsey Burnisky's first half goal was all the offense Brockport needed as they defeated Geneseo 1-0 to win the school's first SUNYAC Tournament title in women's soccer.

The goal came in the 32nd minute off a misplayed corner kick and was the only shot on goal in the game for the Golden Eagles. Ashley Ewin picked up an assist. Goalkeeper Steph Kowell made five saves and registered her 12th consecutive victory.

Nicole Gibaud won the SUNYAC Rookie-of-the-Year award after her five goal-one assist season, which also earned her a second-team All-SUNYAC team selection at midfield.

Nineteen year head coach Joan Schockow also was selected as the SUNYAC Coach-of-the-Year after the team won a school record 16 games.

The Golden Eagles earned the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament and were seeded to play at Ithaca in the first round with the winner facing the winner of Messiah-Penn State Behrend in the second round.
