Fraternity completes community service project

On Saturday, November 4, approximately 20 members of the Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity lent their services to a community beautification project in the village. The students at SUNY Brockport, spent the day weeding, collecting debris and raking leaves along the canal towpath between the Park Avenue and Main Street bridges. Members of the Department of Public Works assisted the group with their efforts and provided gloves, rakes and other equipment. "The village believes in the importance of community service and engaging in town-gown partnerships," said Mayor Mort Wexler. "A half-day clean up project may be a small event but it is a great example of college students coming together to make a positive impact on the community." Members of the fraternity are pictured.
