Spencerport students help tsunami orphans

Students at Spencerport's Canal View Elementary School raised money in a "Pennies for Pencils" drive to benefit the orphans of Miracle Garden Tsunami Children's home in India. Presenting a check for $1,185 are (front row, left) Leah Herlan, Sean Rogerson and their teacher, Laura Gannon. Elizabeth Church (back row, left) accepted on behalf of the home. Principal Daniel Milgate (back row, right) said the donation is part of the school's "community service plan" for the year. Canal View students wanted to create a long-term relationship with a school impacted by the tsunami. This first donation will pay for a basketball court and recreational shed on campus.
