BPD responds to stabbing incident

On November 26 at about 6:34 a.m., Brockport Police Sergeant Douglas Ziegler and Officer Michael DeToy responded to The Lakeside Memorial Hospital, in Brockport, for a report of a person being treated for multiple stab wounds to the neck and shoulder.

The victim, a 67-year-old male, reported that while he was at his residence in Brockport, with his 54-year-old live in girlfriend, she stabbed him during a domestic dispute. Following the stabbing, and after the victim attempted to treat himself, he drove himself to the hospital for treatment.

The Brockport Police Department requested assistance from the Monroe County SWAT Team to locate the suspect. Members of the SWAT responded and while mobilizing, members of the Brockport Police Department learned that the suspect may have been seen walking on West Avenue in the village.

Undersheriff Daniel Greene, Chief Deputy Gary Caiola, of the Monroe County Sheriff's Office and Brockport Police Chief Daniel Varrenti responded to the area in Varrenti's unmarked vehicle along with other officers of the Brockport Police Department. At about 12:30 p.m., the suspect was spotted by Greene, Caiola and Varrenti in front of 80 West Avenue while attempting to hide from marked police cars.

She was approached by Greene, Caiola ad Varrenti, taken into custody and transported to the Brockport Police Department for processing. She was charged with assault, arraigned and remanded to the Monroe County Jail.

A search warrant was executed at the suspect's residence by members of the Monroe County Sheriff's Office and the Brockport Police Department. Members of the Brockport Police Department processed the crime scene for evidence.

The original charge of assault may be upgraded to attempted murder once the investigation is completed and reviewed by the Monroe County District Attorney's Office.
