Finger Lakes State Parks sets lifeguard test date

Daniel F. Davis, Assistant Regional Director of the Finger Lakes State Parks, said statewide qualifying procedures will be held for lifeguards in the Finger Lakes Region.

The standard lifeguard examinations will be held on Saturday, January 6 at 11 a.m. at the Watkins Glen High School. Both exams are open to the public for potential new candidates, as well as any returning lifeguards. Candidates are required to bring their own pocket masks for the CPR portion of the exam.

The qualifying procedures evaluate practical lifeguard skills and cardiopulmonary resuscitation skills. All parts of the examination are evaluated on a pass/fail basis.

Starting pay for lifeguards is $10.35 per hour.
