Brockport Rotary sponsor a pilot literacy project

Brockport Rotary Past President Mary Jo Orzech and SUNY Brockport Drake Memorial Library employees Colleen Hotchkiss and Alicia Stadtmiller display a selection of children's literature purchased by the Brockport Rotary. The books will go to 23 children of various ages who are receiving Christmas gift packages in conjunction with the college's Annual Holiday Helping Hands Project that provides gifts for local families in need. Orzech is interim director of the Drake Library. She thought that donating new books would fit in with Rotary International's goals to promote literacy and would be a good way for the Brockport Club to work in concert with the college on a project. Brockport Rotary meets most Thursdays at 6:15 p.m. at 58 Main in Brockport. The Lift Bridge Book Store in Brockport supported the project by granting a substantial discount for the purchased books.
