A penny for a CURE

Holley Elementary School once again reached out to children with cancer by participating in the Pennies for CURE - The Million Penny Drive. Sponsored by the Student Council, all classes brought in their pennies from home and added them to the jugs in the main office from October 30 through December 8. Sixth grader Eddie Kane brought in the most - 10,000 pennies that his dad, Ed, had been collecting in a jar. Yes, that's $100! Last year, schools and businesses in seven counties helped CURE raise more than $13,000 in change. (That's equal to one million, three hundred thousand pennies). Above, Holley kindergartener Alonso Jorge (left) and second grader Brandon Gardner add some pennies to The Million Penny Drive. Submitted photo.
