Two from area in Wrestling Hall

Former state high school wrestling champions Mike LoPresti of Spencerport and Dave Pitoni of Hilton will be among seven members inducted into the Section Five Wrestling Hall of Fame in a ceremony February 13.

LoPresti won the state title in 1986 at 138 pounds. He took the Sectional crown by pinning Lyndonville's Gary Bayne in 3:17 and advanced to the state tournament by defeating Chris Yengo from Webster by technical fall. He became the fourth Ranger to win a state title.

Pitoni won Section Five titles in 1985 at 105 pounds when he defeated Canandaigua's Tom Cunningham 3-0 in the final and in 1986 at 112 pounds by beating Spencerport's Tom Billone 7-2.

In 1986, Pitoni qualified for the state tourney with a 9-3 decision over Jim Hopkins from Bath at SuperSectionals. He was the second and is now one of just four Hilton wrestlers to ever win a state championship with Dave Juergens (1975), Rick Sadwick (1987 and 1988) and Anthony Antonucci (1989).

The wrestling hall is located at Red Fedele's Brook House where the induction ceremony will take place.
