Four local youth perform in National Fine Arts Festival

The 2006 National Fine Arts Festival of the Assemblies of God Church was held in Orlando, Florida. After advancing through local, and district/state auditions, Chaz Feathers of Hamlin, Dillon and Ethan Lovall of Gates, and Bradley DeGroat of Spencerport, all of the Spencerport Assembly of God church, advanced to the national level. Their instrumental quartet with Chaz on tenor saxophone, Dillon on keyboard, Ethan on drum set, and Brad on bass guitar, was awarded the highest rating of "Supervisor with Honors" for their performance of a jazz rendition of Chuck Mullon's "Awesome God." Dillon and Chaz also received superior ratings for their vocal and instrumental solos, respectively.

The national youth ministries of the Assemblies of God created the Fine Arts Festival as a ministry designed to help students discover and develop their God-given talents. The students may participate in various solo/group presentations of visual art, (graphic design, photography, and two- and three-dimensional art), communication, (sermon, sign language, video production, web design, and puppetry), drama, human video, children's lessons, sketch writing, instrumental/vocal music compositions, instrumental/vocal music performance, and writing, (first person essay, poetry and short story).

Participants awarded a "Superior with Invitation" certificate advance to each successive festival level, starting with the local festival, then to the district, and finally to the National Fine Arts Festival.
