Local man injured in fall from float

Steve Klafehn, of Hamlin, was seriously injured following a fall from a two-story scaffolding. He was working to decorate the Lutheran Laymen's League float for the Rose Bowl parade in California.

Klafehn is a youth leader at Concordia Lutheran Church in Brockport and has helped with the float for many years.

He was listed in stable condition on January 2. He underwent surgery to remove a blood clot on his brain following the fall.

Friends of the family said Klafehn recognized his parents when they arrived at the hospital.
