Learning good character from the bottom up

Holley second graders in Marge Burgio's class are learning about good character and making their classroom chairs a little more comfortable at the same time. In art class, the students drew pictures illustrating the traits of good character. Then their art teacher, Brandi Zavitz, ironed the pictures on felt squares that the students could color with fabric markers. "We talked about good character and how we can best illustrate each of the six pillars," said Zavitz. The class then used the squares to cover pieces of foam. "I always wanted to do this project to make the students more comfortable while they're in the classroom and thank Ms. Zavitz for helping to make it possible," said Burgio. Submitted material.
