Spelling Bee
at Byron- Bergen

The annual Robert Fowler Spelling Bee was held on December 22. This year, 21 participants qualified for the competition by taking a preliminary test. After spelling through several rounds of words, the two remaining contestants were eighth graders Kaitlynn Frisby, pictured third from the left, and seventh grader Amber Elliott. These two contestants went back and forth for more than ten rounds in the finals. Kaitlynn took top honors and Amber placed second. They are pictured with Middle School Principal Dan Bedette and English teacher Jason Blom. The next step for Frisby is to take a written test provided by the Buffalo News which determines the top spellers who will compete in Buffalo for the regional title. Sixth grade participants were: Kayla Curry, Erica Hickey, Kelly Kruppner, DeeAnna Redinger, Allen Singer and Carrie Sewert. Seventh grade participants were: Dylan Bates, Amber Elliott, Garet Keene, Megan McInally, Angela Mucica, Nick Prospero, Lauren Stumpf and Courtney Taylor. Eighth grade participants were: Hannah Ackert, Amanda Brown, Kaitlynn Frisby, Anna Long, John Menzie, Randall Paulhamus and Kevin Wall.
