Senator lands seats on finance and judiciary panels

State Senator George Maziarz (62nd District) will serve as a member of the Senate Finance Committee, which plays a critical role in reviewing and negotiating the state budget, and the Senate Judiciary Committee, which screens judicial nominations to the New York State Court of Appeals and oversees legislation affecting the state's judicial system.

"These new roles will allow me some of the best opportunities in the State Senate to stand up for the people in Western New York and serve my constituents," he said. "Shaping the state budget and serving as a check and balance to the judicial branch - these are two of the most important roles we play as legislators. I'm really looking forward to fighting for what is right for New York."

He also serves on the following committees: Labor (Chairman), Aging, Corporations, Authorities & Commissions, Crime Victims, Crime & Corrections, Energy & Telecommunications, Finance and Judiciary.
