Rachael Fillion was named to the academic dean's list for the fall 2006 semester at Baptist Bible College in Clark's Summit, Pennsylvania.

Fillion is a sophomore studying elementary education.

She is the daughter of Kenn and Terry Fillion of Churchville.


Sandra A. Goettelman of Spencerport has been named to the dean's list at SUNY College at Geneseo for the first semester of the 2006-2007 academic year. She is the daughter of George and Cindy Goettelman and a 2006 graduate of Spencerport High School.


Sr. Patricia E. Carroll, Sisters of St. Joseph (SSJ), assistant superintendent for Catholic schools in the Diocese of Rochester, was given the "Making It Happen Award" at the New York State Association for Computers and Technology in Education (NYSCATE) convention.


Mark Garofalo of Ogden has achieved the dean's list with honors with a GPA of 3.70-3.99 at SUNY College at Brockport for fall 2006. He is a 2004 graduate of Churchville-Chili High School and is the son of Lori Garofalo of Ogden.


Caitlin M. Simpson of Spencerport has achieved the dean's list with a GPA of 3.40-3.69 at SUNY College at Brockport for fall 2006. She is a 2003 graduate of Spencerport High School and she is the daughter of Jane W. Simpson of Spencerport and Gary R. Simpson of Huntersville, North Carolina.


Gabe Koelle and Riley Sullivan, both of Brockport, have won awards and a cash prize in the Monroe County Firemen's Association Essay Contest. Koelle won 9th place for the 8th grade and Sullivan won 5th place in the 5th grade level, writing on the subject "Prevent Cooking Fires, Watch What You Heat."

Both students attend Christ Community Church School in Brockport.


Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute has named the following students to the Institute's dean's list for the fall 2006 semester. The dean's list recognizes full-time students who maintain grade-point averages of a minimum of 3.0 out of a possible 4.0 and have no grades below "C." From this area are: Benjamin R. Barton, a freshman from Adams Basin; Daniel W. Clifford, a sophomore from Hilton and Andrew J. Diehl, a sophomore from Spencerport.


Students were named to the Niagara University academic dean's list for the fall 2006 semester. To qualify, students must attain a 3.25 academic grade point average for the semester. Students from this area are:

  • From Brockport: Lindsay C. Roberts, Janel M. Stepanek, Kelsey A. Sullivan and Michael E. Zimny;
  • From Hamlin: Stephanie R. Peckham;
  • From Hilton: Kristi M. Dempski, Derek Stephan Gerega, Andrea E. Guck, Amanda Rose Nagy and Cara F. Rossi;
  • From Holley: Alexander F. Hinkley and Tara Lauren Westcott;
  • From Spencerport: Brian S. Anderson, Allen Stewart Barton, Nicole Inzana, Thomas M. Kehoe, Danielle M. Leckinger, Lindsay M. Otto and Lauren G. Parkhurst;
  • From Rochester: Kelly M. Knox.

Laura Fees is being admitted to the N.Y. State Bar Association on February 22, at the Riverside Convention Center. She graduated in May from the University of Buffalo School of Law and from Niagara University in 2003.

Fees is currently employed as an associate with the firm of Friedman & Ranzenhofer in Akron, NY. She is the daughter of Pierce and Janet Fees of Hamlin.
