Fairbanks Road School to hold benefits for aplastic anemia

Students and staff at Churchville-Chili Central School District's Fairbanks Road Elementary School are coming together to plan a number of events to help fight aplastic anemia.

The first event is a bone marrow screening which will be performed by the Greater New York National Marrow Donor Program. The screening will be funded by donations and underwritten by Christopher's Challenge, a charitable organization founded to help pay for the typing of samples for individuals willing to become potential donors through National Marrow Donor Program.

The event will be held on February 28 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Fairbanks Road Elementary School gym, 175 Fairbanks Road. Any monetary donations received that night will go to Christopher's Challenge.

The next event is a Red Cross blood drive on March 10 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., also in the Fairbanks Road Elementary School gym.

Additionally, there will be a benefit dance show sponsored by Studio 19 and other local dance studios. Tickets are $5 per person and there will be baskets for donated items. The performance will take place on March 23 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Intermediate School auditorium, 139 Fairbanks Road, Churchville. Contact Valerie Jaramillo at 594-9095 for details.
