SUNY Brockport opens new fitness equipment center to the public

SUNY Brockport President John R. Halstead cut the ribbon to officially introduce the latest improvements to SUNY Brockport's Tuttle North Fitness Center on Monday, February 19 then took a few moments to try out one of the machines.

The $70,000 upgrade includes the 15-piece Cybex Eagle Circuit, a premier line of strength training equipment. The college also added a Cybex Smith Press, three Cybex adjustable weight benches, two Cybex upright cycles and a three-station Cybex Multi-Gym. In addition, the Fitness Center space was upgraded with new lighting to substantially brighten the workout area.

"We've really brought the Tuttle North Fitness Center facility into the 21st century with this state-of-the-art make over," said Scott Haines, SUNY Brockport's interim director of recreational services.

The Tuttle North Fitness Center is also open to the public, with memberships available for individuals and families on an annual or semester basis. Community member dues range from $132/semester for an individual to $479/year for a family of three or more. Memberships also include access to the college's Olympic-sized swimming pool, racquetball and squash courts and basketball courts.
