Jessica Dakin of Darla Drive, Brockport, has achieved the dean's list with a GPA of 3.40-3.69 at SUNY College at Brockport for the fall of 2006. She is a student in the 3-1-3 program and is a member of the class of 2007 at Brockport High School. She is the daughter of Bill and Donna Dakin.


Laura Gruschow, of Golden Road, Rochester, has achieved dean's list with honors with a GPA of 3.70-3.99 at SUNY College at Brockport for fall of 2006. She is a 2005 graduate of Churchville-Chili High School and the daughter of Mike and Jill Gruschow and is studying sociology.


Emily Reilly of Spencerport has achieved the dean's list with honors with a GPA of 3.70-3.99 at SUNY College at Brockport for fall 2006. She is a 2006 graduate of Spencerport High School and is the daughter of James and Paula Reilly.


Diana Hemm, daughter of Walter and Mary Lou Hemm of Spencerport, has made the dean's list for the fall 2006 semester at Geneseo University. She is in her junior year as a business administration major with a focus on marketing.


Ryan Hemm, son of Walter and Mary Lou Hemm of Spencerport, has made the dean's list for the fall 2006 semester at Lock Haven University. He is a freshman pursuing a major in criminal justice.


Longtime Brockport resident Blaine VanDenBerghe, a former Kodak engineer, was released as president of the Rochester, New York Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because he accepted employment in Colorado. Prior to his service as Stake President, he served as the Bishop of the Brockport Ward. His wife, Kaye, has been active in community affairs and all of their children, Trent, Julie, Diane, Clark and Lora, graduated from Brockport High School.

Cary M. Jensen of Rochester was installed as the new Stake President with Frank J. Wozniak and Bentley Hutchings as counselors.


Spencerport High School junior Monica Cronmiller finished in first place in the public speaking II competition at the 2007 Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Spring District 10 Meeting at Bryant & Stratton in Rochester.

Cronmiller advances to statewide competition in the Catskills in April.


Kristin Hill, of Chili, has been named to the dean's list at Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. She is a fourth year doctorate student in pharmacy. She is a 2000 graduate of Churchville-Chili High School and received a bachelors degree in chemistry from Roberts Wesleyan College in 2003. She is the daughter of Larry and Karlene Hill of Chili.


Shannon Putney received the President's Volunteer Service Award. The award recognizes Putney for volunteering significant amounts of time in service of her community and country.

Spencerport High School Principal Ty Zinkiewich presented Putney with an award certificate and a letter from President George Bush, who called her a "role model for other young people."
"Students recognized by this prestigious award demonstrate an enormous capacity for reaching out to those in need and I'm proud of Shannon and her accomplishments as a wonderful example to others," said Zinkiewich.


Scott Andrew Elliott earned a 4.0 GPA and was named to the president's list at Clemson University for the fall semester. He is the son of Douglas and Sandy Elliott of Spencerport.


Approximately 203 students are December 2006 graduates of the State University of New York at Fredonia. Students from this area are: Jamie L. Pricola of Brockport; Michelle M. DeHollander of Hilton; and Tracy L. Brew of Spencerport.


Ann Bliss, daughter of Terry and Cookie Bliss, has been named to the dean's list for the fall semester at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in North Adams, Massachusetts. She is a senior majoring in English and is a 2003 graduate of Kendall High School.


Air Force Master Sgt. Phillip C. Beverly deployed overseas to a forward-operating location in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The newly promoted master sergeant is an F-16 aircraft weapons section flight chief assigned to an air expeditionary maintenance squadron at Balad Air Base, Iraq. The master sergeant has served in the military for 20 years.

He is the son of Linda F. Beverly and uncle of Shawn Smith, both of Kansas. His wife, Colleen, is the daughter of Kathrine White of Hilton. In 1986, Sergeant Beverly graduated from Dodge City Senior High School.
