Work resuming on two bridges in Parma and Greece
Route 261 (Manitou Road) over Salmon Creek, detour began March 12

Work resumed on the Route 261 (Manitou Road) bridge over Salmon Creek in the Town of Greece. The structure is located between Wilder Road and Curtis Road. The road closed Monday, March 12, while the bridge is under construction. Traffic will be detoured to Wilder Road, Bennett Road and Curtis Road. The bridge is expected to be completed and the detour lifted by August 31, 2007.

The original Route 261 bridge was built in 1928. It received a new steel deck in 1970. The new bridge will be constructed of precast concrete box beams and a concrete deck. Travel lanes will be 12 feet wide with seven feet wide shoulders to accommodate local fishermen. New steel bridge rail will also be installed.

The second location under this contract is the Route 259 bridge over West Creek in the Town of Parma. The structure is located between Dunbar Road and Curtis Road. The road will close Monday, March 19, while the bridge is under construction. Traffic will be detoured to Dunbar Road to Hamlin-Parma Town Line Road to Curtis Road. The bridge is expected to be completed and the detour lifted by August 31, 2007.

The original Route 259 bridge was built in 1927. Similar to the first location, the new bridge will be constructed of pre-cast concrete box beams with a concrete deck. The travel lanes will be 12 feet wide with five feet shoulders. In addition, new six feet wide sidewalk will be installed. New steel bridge rail will also be installed.
