Town, village meeting to discuss recreation plans

Officials from the Village of Hilton and Town of Parma will meet at the Town Hall March 27 with the Recreation and Parks commissioner to consider the hiring of an architectural firm for a community center project.

Steve Fowler, director of Parma's recreation center, said this is a project that's been in the works for close to seven years. The meeting Tuesday is a culmination of the search for a firm to move the project forward and come up with conceptual plans for a proposed community center.

The location and scope of the project have not been determined, but Fowler said the library may be part of a proposal and that looking at expansion or renovation of the existing village building on Henry Street would be taken into consideration.

The town and the library boards have each committed $10,000 to the study.

The workshop meeting will not offer an opportunity for public input.
