Soldiers remembered

Hilton Central School students in teacher Erin Cavallaro's Village Elementary School created 100 valentines for soldiers serving in Iraq. The valentine cards were sent to 2004 Hilton High School graduate and LCPL Jonathan Jardas who is serving in Iraq as a member of the Marine Corps, 3/6 Kilo Company, Unit 73300 deployed in Habbinyah. His mother, Molly Jardas, who is a teaching assistant at Hilton High School said, "I spoke with Jonathan last week and he told me how thrilled he and his mates were when they received all those wonderful homemade valentines." Hilton students will join together for the second year to participate in "Operation Local Soldier" Friday, April 20, at Hilton's Merton Williams Middle School to write letters to area soldiers and participate in a number of other activities, according to organizer Northwood Elementary teacher Amy Jensen-Helmer.
