SUNY Brockport football to change conferences

SUNY Brockport has been invited to join the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) for football starting in the fall of 2008. The NJAC Athletic Directors approved the move last week and the university presidents of the member schools approved the addition of SUNY Brockport. The conference also announced the addition of Morrisville State College. Brockport and Morrisville become the ninth and tenth football members of the conference.

The winner of the conference receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Playoffs.

The Golden Eagles will remain a member of the Atlantic Central Football Conference (ACFC) for the 2007 season and play a full NJAC conference schedule starting with the 2008 season. Brockport joined the ACFC in 2004 and won a share of the conference championship in 2005. The ACFC is the only conference SUNY Brockport has ever been associated with in the 60 years of football at the college.

The Golden Eagles have compiled winning records in eight of the last 12 seasons under head coach Rocco Salomone. He led Brockport to the NCAA Playoffs four straight seasons starting in 2000 and the team was voted the ECAC Team of the Year in 2002 and was selected as the Lambert Cup Champions as the best team in the East.
