Hilton Board of Education considers
first draft 2007-08 budget proposal

The Hilton Board of Education heard a presentation at its regular meeting March 27 of the first draft "Committee Budget" for the 2007-08 school year. The $63.9 million proposal reflects an increase of 6.12 percent overall dollar amount over last year which reflects a 1.98 percent average increase in local taxes, according to Hilton Assistant Superintendent for Business Steven Ayers.

The Board of Education will continue deliberations over the next week prior to its April 3 meeting at which adoption of a budget proposal is expected, according to a district press release. District voters will go to the polls May 15 to vote on the Budget Proposal.
