Eagles trounce Tigers

Sophomore Kim Morris scored four of her game-high five goals in the first half to stake Brockport to a 9-1 lead on their way to a 12-4 victory over visiting RIT in women's lacrosse. The Golden Eagles led 6-0 before the Tigers got on the scoreboard.

"We still need work on our transition game," said fifth year head coach Traci Lian. "We're improving and not turning the ball over as much."

Junior Carrie Kane, named Rochester Area Colleges Female Athlete of the Week one week prior, scored once and assisted on both first half goals scored by sophomore Julie Decker. Emily Moore, Courtney Dean, Lexie Goodhart and Marlise Piraino each scored a goal while Goodhart also registered a pair of assists in the game.

"We were working on our patience on offense," said Lian. "We need to work the ball around and not force shots. We only have four front line players to sub, so we're trying to control the pace of the game more."

Senior Ashley Taylor, named SUNYAC Goalie of the Week after two road victories, was called on to make just three saves on 11 shots in net as the Golden Eagles improved to 5-2 on the season. Both losses came in triple overtime road games.

The team begins its SUNYAC schedule with Geneseo and Oswego traveling to Brockport April 10 and 14 respectively.
