Homeland Security grant program opened

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has opened the application period for its Competitive Training Grant Program (CTGP). Through CTGP, DHS provides funds to all governments and organizations to support the development of national preparedness training initiatives that further DHS's mission of preparing the nation to prevent, protect against, respond to and recover from incidents of terrorism and catastrophic events. The application period started April 16 and ends May 4. To apply, eligible entities may visit www.grants.gov.

"The competitive training program plays an important part in improving our nation's preparedness by discovering the best response practices and initiatives from across the nation," Congressman Tom Reynolds said.

This year, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), under the direction of DHS, will distribute approximately $29.1 million across the nation through CTGP.
