Spring into nature at wildlife refuge

Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) in Alabama will hold its Spring Into Nature celebration on Saturday, April 28 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission and parking are free.

Located at the refuge headquarters on Casey Road, the event offers activities for the whole family with conservation-related exhibits related to gardening for wildlife, birding, hiking, fishing, hunting and trapping. Children can paint a bird, create a critter, make a track casting, learn about food chains and study pond life. There will also be face painting and interpretive games.

A Scope Watch at Cayuga Overlook, live wildlife displays and a frontiersman encampment will round out the day. The Shelby Volunteer Fire Company will be selling hot dogs and hamburgers and the Alabama-Basom Methodist Church will hold a bake sale.

Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge is located between Rochester and Buffalo.
