House improvement initiative moving forward

Volunteers with carpentry, landscaping or other skills and individuals who are in need of improvements to their homes are being sought for a home improvement initiative. Village of Brockport Trustee David Wagenhauser has been researching the possibility of such an initiative within the village.

"Residents need to tell us what they need help with on their houses - exterior work, yard or landscaping or interior work," he said. "The priority for the program will be for seniors and the disabled to get work done."

Individuals interested in the program are asked to contact the village hall with their name, address and phone number.

Wagenhauser is looking to pair volunteers up with homeowners in need of home repairs.

In other matters, village officials:

Accpeted a bid from Sara's Garden Center for the purchase of flowers for the Main Street baskets. Sara's was the lowest bid of the three received.

Heard from Fire Chief Timothy Rombaut that the department is responding to an average of 7.7 calls per day. To date they have had 257 fire and 575 EMS calls.
