Artful pursuits

Justin Schichler, a Kendall senior, stands by his pen and ink drawing, "Opening Day" at the Student Art Show hosted by the Community Free Library. Jenny Siplo, a Holley sophomore, is pictured with her watercolor painting, "Black-Eyed Susan." The art show gallery opened Monday, April 16 and runs through May 4. The event drew together judges from the towns of Kendall, Murray and Clarendon and the village of Holley. Holley Mayor John Kenney said, "Judging the artwork was a learning experience, we certainly have some talented students in this area." The winners of the art show, by category, are: Kristy Totter for painting; Emily Culbertson, charcoal-pastels; Kim Barbour, pen, ink, pencil and Jessica Gardner for photography. Sandy Shaw, library director, said she hopes the event becomes an annual one. The gallery is open during library hours. Call 538-6987 for information. Photographs by Robbi Hess.
