Hilton school candidates night May 3

Four candidates will be on the ballot for three, three-year terms on the Hilton Board of Education at the May 15 Budget Vote and Board Election.

On the ballot are incumbents Steve Beauvais and Barbara Cutrona; challengers Michelle Frechette Ames and former board member Sarisa Zoghlin.

The three-year terms of current board members Steve Beauvais and Barbara Cutrona are up for election and a three-year open seat now held by Gary Comardo who had decided not to run for another term.

Comardo has been a board member since 1995 finishing up his fourth term with a one-year position formerly vacated by the unexpired term of former member Ted Welch (vacated in 2005).

The seven-member Hilton Board of Education meets generally the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month at 7 p.m. in the Board Meeting Room, District Offices, 225 West Avenue, Hilton. Meetings are open to the public. Agendas and minutes are posted on the Hilton district website: www.hilton.k12.ny.us Board members serve without pay.

There will be a "Meet the Candidates" on Thursday, May 3, from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Board Meeting Room, District Offices, 225 West Avenue, Hilton. The public is invited.

Hilton Board of Education candidates are:

Steve Beauvais, 11 Albano Drive, Hilton, incumbent. Beauvais was elected in 2004 and is seeking a second, three-year term. He is project manager at NYS Department of Transportation in Rochester.

Barbara Cutrona, 817 Macintosh Drive, Greece, incumbent. Cutrona was elected in 2004 and is seeking a second term. She is vice president, business information and training at the Rochester Business Alliance.

Michelle Frechette Ames, 193 Lake Avenue, Hilton. Frechette is a 1987 graduate of Hilton High School and serves as director of admissions at the University of Rochester Warner Graduate School of Education.

Sarisa Zoghlin, 1132 West Avenue, Hilton. Zoghlin served on the Hilton Board of Education from 1972 to 1978. She has served as office manager at Hilton Health Care for 15 years.
