"Steps for Sudan" benefits Sudanese well project

Salva Dut, a Sudanese refugee and one of the "Lost Boys" who settled in Rochester, spoke to Hilton High School International Baccalaureate (IB) students last fall. Dut's organization, Water for Sudan, has collected donations to support the drilling of wells in Sudan. This spring, a "Steps for Sudan" student committee decided to help Salva Dut. " 'Steps for Sudan' will take place on May 19 from 10 a.m. to noon at Hilton High School," said IB student Julie Parker. "It is our goal to raise $5,000 to build a well, and we are in need of pledges and donations of bottled water and snacks for the walkers."

To donate, make checks out to Hilton High School, and designate that it is for the IB Steps for Sudan. Students will be receiving pledge forms at the end of April, and will be collecting money for approximately two weeks prior to the walk.

Donations may be mailed to: Mary Pignato, IB CAS Coordinator, Hilton High School, 400 East Avenue, Hilton, NY 14468.
