SUNY Brockport Department
of Dance presents annual showcase

Graduating students from SUNY Brockport's Department of Dance will present a showcase of dance solos entitled Senior Solo Concert, Graduation Dances May 11 at 7:30 p.m.

Highlights will include an excerpt from choreographer Doug Varone's "Tomorrow," performed by BFA candidate Roy Harrington Tracy; and "Limón Etude" choreographed by Carla Maxwell and performed by BA candidate Marisa Ballaro. The Doug Varone and Dancers and the Limón Dance Company were visiting guest artists to campus this year and held intensive workshops with SUNY Brockport's dance students.

Works by Brockport's dance faculty will also be showcased. BFA candidate Abbey Germano will perform an excerpt from assistant professor James Hansen's "Ophelia's Reclamation" and two pieces by visiting professor and guest artist Bill Evans will be presented performed by BFA candidate Catherine DeAngelis and by BFA candidate Daniel Walczak.

The concert will feature several new works choreographed and performed by graduating Brockport students, including a modern dance piece of BA candidate Jocelyn McIntosh, a work by MFA candidate Kelly Ferris and a piece by BFA candidate Courtney Acomb.

Other student performers and choreographers will include BFA candidates Stephanie Mellinger, Stephanie Vertichio and Michele Wilson; BA candidate Leah Fox; and graduate students Courtney Andrews and Stacy Pottinger.

Senior Solo Concert, Graduation Dances will be Friday, May 11, at 7:30 p.m. in Hartwell Theater, Hartwell Hall, Kenyon Street. There is no charge for this concert and seating is first come, first served. Donations to benefit freshman scholarships will be accepted at the door.
