Area Lion elected to state office

Lion James Schiebel of the Hilton Lions Club was elected president of the state's Past District Governor's organization at the 84th annual Lions convention. There are 12 Lion districts across the state with about 600 local Lions Clubs. Each district is administered by a district governor. After this service, they may join the Past District Governors' organization which is primarily responsible for education and training.

Schiebel and his wife, Donna, attended the convention in Saratoga where he was installed. He will preside until the convention next year in Niagara Falls. He is a charter member of the Hilton Lions Club, serving the community for 40 years. He is also the chairman of the board of directors for the Empire State Speech and Hearing Clinic (a residential summer school program for special education students), the president of the Lions International Trading Pin Club (a fellowship group with members in twenty countries) and the Guiding Lion for the SUNY Brockport College Campus Lions Club.

He is retired from the Hilton Central School system and resides in Hamlin.
