Kiwanis Club bids farewell to long-time member

The Kiwanis Club of Brockport will host a presentation by Rev. Sinnathamby Thevanesan, a long-time member and current vice president, who will be giving his last public presentation in Brockport. Thevanesan (Theva) is also pastor of Brockport United Methodist Church, and will be transferred to Amherst Christ United Methodist Church in Snyder, New York in June. He has been selected as the 2007 Distinguished Alumnus of Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School.

"Theva's participation over the past five years has strengthened the Kiwanis Club and we are grateful for his many contributions," stated Robert Reusch, president of the Kiwanis Club.

Theva's final presentation, "An Unbiased Look at the World's Religions," will be on Wednesday, May 30 at SUNY Brockport's Cooper Hall, followed by a special remembrance of his past six years of service to the community. Theva served as pastor for several United Methodist churches in western New York. In addition to his current position at the Brockport Methodist Church, Theva served as an adjunct professor at the United Theological Seminary in Buffalo.
