Baseball honors awarded

As many as 30 participants competed in the pitch, hit & run competition hosted by Riga Recreation on May 5 at Mahar Lodge in Churchville. These participants won first place honors in their respective age groups.

•Age 7/8 overall and pitch champion, Zach Pedeville of Churchville; hit and run champion, Dillion Strine of Churchville;

•Age 9/10 overall and hit champion Matthew Dietz; pitch champion, Owen Memelo and run champion, Nick Ficarella, all of Churchville;

•Age 11/12 overall, pitch and run champion, Tyler Swetman of Churchville; and hit champion, Dustin Solomon of Churchville;

•Age 13/14 overall and run champion, Jason Campbell; pitch champion, Xavier Maira and hit champion, Frank Maira, all of Churchville.

The winners will compete in the Sectional competition on May 20 in Oakfield Town Park. Sectional All-Around Champions become eligible to qualify for the team championship.
