Byron-Bergen students participate
in technology media festival

Students from 14 area schools were recognized for outstanding achievement in the creative use of technology at the Technology Media Festival on April 26 at Caledonia-Mumford Middle School. There were 536 entries in eight categories of the competition.

The festival showcased students' creative projects, promoted the effective use of technology to support K-12 curriculum and celebrated excellence. All entries were displayed during the exhibition portion of the festival. The entries were judged by an independent panel comprised of media professionals.

Byron-Bergen entered 81 students in six different categories. Eleventh-grader Kelly Ferguson placed second in the desktop publishing category for grades 10-12 Level Spanish Books for Children project with Spanish teacher Mrs. Rivera. Seventh graders Courtney Oderkirk and Chelsey Cratsley tied with another team for third place in the same category for a grades 7 through 9 Level III Super Heroes project with seventh grade English teacher Mrs. Howland. Eight students in Mrs. Young's fifth grade classroom, David Case, Nicholas Culver, Caliann Elliott, Allen Fielder, Jordan Grimmer, Crystal Haymon, Jonathan Martinez and Jordan Sloat, received a Certificate of Participation for their class Podcast project, "How About Bats."
